Wednesday with Brody

Wonderful day with Brody.  Here is a short video of him at the beach.  He would not follow Beau and Max into the water.  We were hoping he would so he could learn this is a good way to cool off.  As usual the three were great together with only minor skirmishes!

Oh, my aching tummy!

Maxwell ate a bunch of milkbones again!  I must learn to close the closet doors.  All evening he acted like he had a stomachache.  I think he was stuffed full!  He even looked fatter.  Today he is back to normal activites.  You have to watch those corgis, they will eat you out of house and home.

It's Wednesday Night

On Wednesday nights Daddy sailboat races.  Beau would like to be out there too, but he seems perfectly content to sail the laser with Daddy.  Maxwell has not gotten the hang of sailing yet and just shakes when you set him on it.  Maybe by the end of the summer.  He did "swim" on his own for the first time yesterday.  So he is making progress.  Yes we do have life jackets for them.

Lightening bug dogs

Hurry home Mama, Daddy is feeding us lightening bugs!  I was at book club and I received this picture with the caption above.  I couldn't stop laughing.  When Daddy is home with the pups alone, he says they are constantly looking for their mama.  Looks like I have raised a couple of "mama's boys"!  Well honestly I love it.

Our favorite vet tech

Maxwell and Kris
We love our vet's office.  The doctors are fantastic and the staff is super.  They always make us feel as if we are their only patients when we walk through the door.  We couldn't ask for a more compassionate vet office.  Thank you Dr. Izo and staff.

Maxwell driving the Audi

Maxwell loves to sit in the drivers seat.  That way he can be in control of everything.  His Daddy lets him drive sometimes.  I love when I say "look back at the road" he immediately does!  Such a good driver and doesn't talk or text while he is driving.

Cooler temps = Outdoor time

Yesterday we talked about how hot it was, today the high was about 65.  The dogs enjoyed laying in the grass and chewing on bones.  The one thing about northern Michigan you never know what kind of weather you will get day to day.  The forecast is calling for 90s again this weekend.  Time for more bobbing for cheese in the pool and wading in the bay.  Though I have put a duck decoy out by the dock to lure the dogs into really swimming.  Paws off the lake bottom!  Also Beau has taught Max how to use the rocks as stepping stones, I'll have to try and get a video of that.

"Bobbing" Beau

Today I filled up their little pool.  It is funny how they have no problems going into the bay to wade around but getting into the pool, now that's another story.  I finally started throwing in some string cheese.  Food is always the best lure when it comes to corgis.  Beau hopped right in! AH this feels so refreshing, it is about 90 degrees today.  Then he started putting his head into the water to get the cheese, smart boy that he is.  Maxwell would not take the "bait", even though he could see Beau enjoying all the treats.  I finally set him in the pool to cool off.  The Weather Channel is saying the high for Tuesday is 64.  Oh yes typical Michigan weather!  It has been this way for the last 3 months 90s for a few days and then down the 50s and 60s.  I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't be a freeze watch in there.

DIAMOND PET FOODS EXPANDS RECALL

Diamond Pet Foods announced that it is expanding a voluntary recall to
include batches of nine brands of dry pet food formulas manufactured
between December 9, 2011 and April 7, 2012 due to potential Salmonella
contamination.

In April 2012, Diamond Pet Foods initiated three voluntary recalls of
Diamond manufactured dry dog food. Although none of the additional
products being recalled have tested positive for Salmonella, the
company is pulling them from store shelves as a precaution. Diamond Pet
Foods is coordinating efforts with federal and state health and
regulatory agencies and decided to independently expand the recall to
ensure the safety and well-being of customers and their pets.

Brands included in the recall include:

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul

Country Value

Diamond

Diamond Naturals

Premium Edge

Professional

4Health

Taste of the Wild

To determine if their pet food is recalled, consumers should check the
production codes on the back of bags that have a number 2 or a 3 in the
9th or 10th digit and an X in the 11th digit. The best-before dates for
the recalled brands listed above are December 9, 2012 through April 7,
2013.

Diamond Pet Foods apologizes for any issues this may cause consumers
and their pets. Pet owners who are unsure if the product they purchased
is included in the recall, or who would like replacement product or a
refund, may contact Diamond Pet Foods via a toll free call at
(866)918-8756, Monday through Sunday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm EST.

measure.

the recall, or who would like replacement product or a refund, may
contact Natural Balance Pet Foods Customer Service at (800) 829-4493

MULTISTATE SALMONELLA OUTBREAK LINKED TO DRY DOG FOOD

CDC is collaborating with public health and agriculture officials in
multiple states and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to
investigate an ongoing multistate outbreak of human Salmonella Infantis
infections. Public health investigators used DNA "fingerprints" of
Salmonella bacteria obtained through diagnostic testing with
pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, or PFGE, to identify cases of illness
that may be part of this outbreak. They used data from PulseNet, the
national subtyping network made up of state and local public health
laboratories and federal food regulatory laboratories that performs
molecular surveillance of foodborne infections. The outbreak strain is
rare and typically 0-3 isolates are reported per month.

Multiple brands of dry pet food produced by Diamond Pet Foods at a
single manufacturing facility in South Carolina have been linked to
some of the human Salmonella infections. People who think they might
have become ill after contact with dry pet food or with an animal that
has eaten dry pet food should consult their health care providers.

A total of 14 individuals infected with the outbreak strain of
Salmonella Infantis have been reported from 9 states. The number of ill
persons identified in each state is as follows: Alabama (1),
Connecticut (1), Michigan (1), Missouri (3), North Carolina (3), New
Jersey (1), Ohio (2), Pennsylvania (1), and Virginia (1).

Beauty and the Beast (Rude Campers)

Wild Roses
Pretty yellow flowers
Our Bench has spray paint on it, our Mom is not happy!
The campers left a huge mess!  The peace and serenity of our walk has been ruined!  I had to put the dogs on the leash for the rest of our walk.  This is after we were pelted with rocks by a man on the trail.  This area has a lot of vagrants living up in the woods.  If they would just clean up their messes and not be rude to the walkers, I think I would feel safer.  We won't walk in this area for awhile.  Maybe it's time to buy some MACE!

The More the Merrier...........

I found this picture on the internet.  I think it is so fun!  I would love to do a corgi meet up here in Traverse City.  I am actually thinking it would be cool to do a photo shoot and call it "Corgis by the Bay"  So now I just have to figure out how to get the word out.  I know there are other corgi owners in town or in the region.  Any suggestions on how to make this happen.

Saturday with Makita

This is Makita's mom and dad.  Sean and Jordan are at the "Red Hot Chili Peppers" concert in Detroit.  So Doggy grandma and grandpa have Makita for the weekend.  She is a good dog and is usually very obedient and listens.  This morning she decided to run off down the beach!  It is cold and rainy here.  I had to go and find her!  Well I dodged a bullet she was having a good ol' time running after geese and I was able to bring her home safe and sound.  Next time she goes out it is back on the leash for her.  Freedom and Trust only goes so far in this house, you blow it once and you are back on the leash!
