Here's to the little goose baby

In the last few days Beau and Maxwell have been chasing a lot of Canadian Geese.  Some have babies.  They have captured three.  They do not injure them, but seem to just want to carry them around.  The first two I was able to get back to their families.  The third little guy as seen in the video was left by its family.  When I found Maxwell laying next to this one, I thought at first it was dead.  It raised its little head and started "honking" at me.  "Where is my mother?"  There were no geese in sight all up and down the beach.  We put the little fellow in a box and went for a car ride.  I drove to the Boardman Lake and found many geese with young ones of all different ages.  I put him in the water and he swam out to the geese, a couple of the adults pushed him away.  He dove under the water and popped up a few feet away.  I think he was saying "here I am".  He paddled around all the geese and started following a family.  I said "good luck little guy, hope you make it".  Hard to know what to do in these cases.  What I have noticed is that the adult geese do not protect their young,  they run as fast as they can to the water.  The babies all scatter here and there.  It is definitely a fend for yourself situation.  I try to check the yard before I let them out to make sure no babies are out there.
The little guy all ready for the car ride.  Safe and comfortable in a box.
Beau "guarding" the box!  Most likely he was just trying to figure out how he could get into it!
I actually tried to introduce the little guy to these domestic geese with babies.  They wouldn't have anything to do with him.  "Hey you're not our kind, get lost".  I scooped him out of the water and went looking for the Canadians.  I have always heard the Canadians are very hospitable.

Maxwell's mama is expecting!

Mama Splash

This is Maxwell mother.  Our family is so in love with Maxwell that I would recommend this breeder.  Their website is www.pembroke-welshcorgi.com Phone Number is 989-235-1214
We have found this breeder to be very helpful with questions after we had adopted Maxwell.  We have been very happy with his disposition, the only negative is his barking.  Our other two corgis were not barkers.  He is a happy fellow and is obedient.  He is 14 months now and has been testing me a little but he still knows I am the alpha!  We have personally met one of Max's half brothers and he is a delight!  I would love to get a little female, but I think my husband will say this is the Beau and Maxwell Show!

A "Summery" of our Memorial Weekend

Time to kick back and relax
A time to reflect and THANK our vets
Lots of play time

The weather was hot and humid with scattered thunder storms.  Very summer like weather, but too hot for little corgis.  We spent a lot of time in the bay swimming and chasing geese.  Beau caught a baby goose!  I was able to get the little thing from him and send it back to it's mama.  The pups enjoyed a Memorial Day outing to our friends on the Boardman River and got good and muddy!  Monday night we all crashed from all the play and work of the weekend.

Playdate with our BFF Brody

Gang up on Beau time.  When these 3 have a play date it is usually 2 against 1.

Ah time for a break.  They play super hard and then chill for a few and are back at it again.  Our visits usually last about two hours

Another corgilicious day with our buddy Brody.  So happy that Beau and Brody had met in puppy kindergarten and became such good friends.

Workin' Wednesday

Today our Mama Lisa worked on the yard.  Beau and Max decided to help with the flower planting.  They are the most beautiful "flowers" that I planted.  Like flowers they bring so much joy to my life.

Puppy Friday "enjoying the beach"

September 24, 2010
Beau is about 5 months in these pics.  He loves the beach.  He especially likes to dig!  His grandfather's name is Digger so I guess he comes by it naturally.  He knows he can dig anywhere on the beach but not up in the yard. Thankfully he learned real fast that beach sand was good for digging up and grass was not.  Though he did like to pull up the grass in tufts.  Now at the age of two he is no longer doing that.  Sometimes I think he is trying to dig his way to China!

Fresh Catch of the Day

We have eagles who perch in our tree and eat their daily catch.  They usually leave the dogs a "treat"!
Today Beau got a fish without the head.  I couldn't get it from him so I let him eat it.  At least it was fresh, instead of the usual dead things they find down on the beach.  He seemed to enjoy it, he wasn't going to let me take it from him.  There was no sharing of this treasure with Maxwell.  Is this what the RAW diet is all about?

It's our ONE year anniversary of the Park Bench

Here we are on our first sitting on the park bench at the State Hospital Grounds in Traverse City.
May 2011,  Maxwell is 8 weeks and Beau is 1 year old.

My how we have grown!  Maxwell is now over a year old and Beau is two.  It is a beautiful May morning in Traverse City.  Love that the boys will jump up on "their" bench for a photo.  May2012

Fun Friday

Beau and Maxwell have a friend by the name of Larry who sent us this picture.  Too Funny!

I don't know how the owner of these awesome corgis did this but this is great.  For those of you who aren't familiar with the Automatic Braking System when it is ON it pulsates just like this corgi.  When it is OFF it is smooth braking!  Thanks to our buddy Larry for the Fun Friday pic.

It's Bath Day

Today we are testing out the KONG Zoom Groom bathing tool.  I did find that it did a great job and helped get to the undercoat.  Corgis have alot of fur and the undercoat is constantly shedding.
Beau seemed to enjoy the massaging action.
All done and looking fabulous.  Maxwell got into the action also in the next video.

Go For A Car Ride?

One of Maxwell and Beau's  favorite things is going for car rides, for most dogs this is a highlight of their daily routines.  Our two love to hang out the window and check out the world.  When they want the window rolled down they just give a little bark which means "window down please".  Maxwell likes to sit with the driver and then he can be in control of the windows going down.  I think I need to purchase some of the doggy goggles for them, any suggestions anyone.

Maxwell and Mighty Mouse

Max discovered a field mouse in the grass and tried to make friends with it.  Well you know the old saying "it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt".  Max was having a fun time until the mouse bit him on the nose.  Game over!

It's Derby Day

Horses and Corgis go together like peanut butter and jelly.  A majority of the horse farms around the country also have corgis as their dog of choice for the herding dog.  In honor of the Kentucky Derby here are some pics I found on the internet of corgis and their horses.  I am sure with the corgi attitude that they run the show on the farm!  Good Luck to all the horses today.
UPDATE: I'll Have Another wins the run for the roses!  Congrats to the jockey Mario on his KD debut race and he gets a big W.

Heres to Gus of New York City

Mr. May

A visit from Gus in Traverse City, before he moved with his Mom and Dad to NYC.  This little puppy stole my husbands heart, we miss him a lot.  He is Maxwell's half brother from a different litter.  His grandparents live in TC so we are hoping for a visit this summer.

As you can see here, the three got along famously.  Gus fit right in from the first visit.  I think Max and Gus knew they were related.  As usual Beau kept the pups in line.

ATTENTION! TREATS COMING..................................

So here here to our little Gussie who I know is growing into a handsome corgi boy.  His birthday is May 19th.  I am sure I will pay tribute to him on that day too.  So Corgi On my friends and you can never know enough corgis!

Beau "almost" sleeping pose

As close a shot I could get of him sleeping, this pup never wanted to sleep unless he was in his crate.  It was go go go all the time.  I would put him down for scheduled naps so he would get some rest.  He has always been a good sleeper at night.
